Mrs. Stewart, our GEM teacher, was nominated by three third grade Thunderbirds for a special recognition. We are so excited to celebrate Mrs. Stewart as the Bear News Essential newspaper, Teacher of the Month! Mrs. Stewart provides and facilitates enrichment programs for our gifted learners. She also supports all of us by coordinating the Science Fair, working with Ms. Rickel and Mrs. Pifer to create our Super Hero Obstacle Course, and 3K. Mrs. Stewart is our STEM teacher and just began a crocheting club. Thank you Mrs. Stewart for these things and so much more!!!
We are so proud to announce Megan Douglas is MUSD Teacher of Year!!!!
Ms. Douglas is a strong leader, who focuses on student success and growth. Ms. Douglas’s enthusiasm shines through in all she does. Ms. Douglas impacts the entire school through implementing Ben’s Bells Kind Kid program school-wide. She worked tirelessly to write a grant to have a Kindness mural installed on our campus for our entire community to enjoy. She has implemented a Kindness Club on campus and through her leadership our culture is stronger and more compassionate.
Ms. Douglas knows how to make school fun! She organizes Kids Night Outs for Thornydale. She plans Minute to Win It Games for our school assemblies as well as dance offs! Let me tell you, she can boogie!
Ms. Douglas searches out resources. She utilizes Donor’s Choose and has gotten several projects funded to support her classroom. She has helped organize events to raise money for new kindergarten equipment. She single-handedly led this huge undertaking: including, a letter-writing campaign, raffles, a 5K and a rummage sale. She is a go-getter and believes in supporting all kids on campus!
Check out the link below to the Media's Club video newsletter. This is an awesome example of the impact the 21st century grant is having on our kids. They highlight other clubs such as Garden Gnomes, Kind Kids, and Lego Masters. Who better than our own students to convey what's happening here?!
