Band
Fifth and Sixth Grade Band: At Quail Run, all fifth and sixth grade students may choose what music class they will participate in during the school year. They may choose from Band, Orchestra, or General Music. We celebrate our instrumental musical discoveries with a Winter Concert in December and a Spring Concert in May. Additionally, we perform at various school assemblies and events.
Band students may select from the following instruments to play: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone, or Percussion (Snare AND Bells).

Honor Band: The MUSD Honor Band is a special event that happens annually in the Spring for Sixth Grade band students. The Honor Band consists of the best players from the elementary schools in our district and is directed by the band directors of the elementary schools. This is a chance for students to meet other fine musicians and experience different band teaching styles. Contact your band director for more information about participation.
General Music K-4
At Quail Run, all students grades Kindergarten through Sixth participate in music. Younger grades Kindergarten through Fourth participate in General Music K-4 twice a week for two thirty-minute sessions. Older students in fifth and sixth grade may choose what music class they will participate in during the school year: Band, Orchestra, or General Music 5-6.
General Music K-4 students may study the following pitched and unpitched percussion instruments:
Glockenspiel, Hand Drum, Metallophone, Recorder, Xylophone, Tambourine, Triangle...and many more!Students also learn skills encompassing singing, performing on instruments, improvisation, composition, reading, notating music, listening to, analyzing, evaluating, and understanding music in relation to other disciplines. Students are actively involved in music lessons through song, dance, playing, and movement!

At Quail Run, all fifth and sixth grade students may choose from Band, Orchestra, or General Music.
General Music students continue their K-4 music studies into the upper grades. Students may study many unpitched and pitched percussion instruments, play recorders, and/or sing songs during general music. General Music students do not select an instrument to rent or purchase like band and orchestra students.
General Music students may continue study the following instruments Glockenspiel, Metallophone, Recorder, Piano, Xylophone
Sing for Marana: The MUSD Sing for Marana Honors Chorus is a special event that happens annually in the Fall for fourth though sixth graders. Sing for Marana consists of singers from all elementary schools in our district and is directed by elementary music teachers from many of the schools. This is a chance for students to meet other fine musicians and experience different choral teaching styles.
Orchestra
At Quail Run, all fifth and sixth grade students may choose what music class they will participate in during the school year. They may choose from Band, Orchestra, or General Music. Orchestra students may play select from the following instruments to play: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass
String Fling: The MUSD String Fling is a special event that happens annually for Sixth Grade orchestra students. The String Fling takes all Sixth Grade students and is directed by the orchestra directors of the west side or east side schools, as well as the directors from the middle and high schools! This is a chance for students to meet other fine musicians and experience different orchestra teaching styles. Contact your orchestra director for more information about participation.
