  • Vision Statement: All students are empowered to be resilient problem solvers. They are leaders who take care of themselves and others.

Mission Statement: The mission of the Marana Unified Elementary School counseling program is to provide equitable access to data-informed services that help all students achieve their full potential. We intentionally create a safe environment, build relationships, collaborate with stakeholders, and advocate for students. We close achievement/opportunity gaps and deliver services that promote positive academic, career and social/emotional development.

About Our Counselor

  • Kristen LaRosaMy name is Kristen LaRosa, and I am proud to be your school counselor! I grew up in Tucson, and attended schools in the Marana Unified School District. I earned my MEd in School Counseling from Northern Arizona University in 2017, and I was thrilled to return to MUSD to complete my counseling internship as part of that program. I have a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Arizona, and an elementary teaching certificate as well.

I have been a proud Dust Devil for several years now. We have an incredibly positive, welcoming environment at our school. I am passionate about helping all of our students to be successful and supporting our community. I teach lessons to each class every other week. I also provide short-term small group and one-on-one counseling when needed.

The topics I cover include goal setting, self-esteem/empowerment, conflict resolution, resisting peer pressure, friendship skills, managing emotions, adjusting to change, solving problems/decision making, personal safety, and more. I am always happy to support students, families, and staff. Counseling is truly a passion and a calling for me. If you need someone to talk to, I will be here to listen. If you need help or resources outside of school, I can help you get in touch with the right people. Please don’t hesitate to reach out!
