-
On Friday, February 2, 2018, at 9:00am, Gladden Farms Elementary School students, staff, and parent volunteers unveiled their “Be Kind” mosaic art mural as part of the Ben’s Bells Be Kind Education Program.
The mural was unveiled during a Kindness school assembly. Jeannette Maré, Ben’s Bells Founder and Executive Director, lead “A Conversation on Kindness,” an in-depth discussion of the challenges and opportunities we encounter in every interaction as we strive to create a kinder community. During this presentation, Jeannette reflected on her own personal experiences with kindness in the face of devastating grief, as well as her work with Ben’s Bells Project and the power of kindness to transform people and communities. She also discussed the emerging body of research on the science of kindness.
“We are extremely proud of the respectful and kind culture evident at Gladden Farms,” states Nancy Paddock, Gladden Farms Elementary principal. “The addition of our mural symbolizes our student’s commitment to spreading kindness and represents the importance of demonstrating respect to others and building positive relationships.”
Students raised all funds for the project and created all mosaic tiles. Parent volunteers constructed the mosaic mural on Thursday, February 1.
