Extended Learning Opportunities
-
The department of Extended Learning Opportunities is committed to providing safe, quality, and affordable programs that meet the needs of children and their families.
Learning, Enrichment, and Play Centers (LEAP) & Teen Extended Day (TED)
-
The Learning, Enrichment, And Play (LEAP) program offers secure, supervised learning and play experiences that enhance the time a child spends away from home and school. The LEAP program also offers a Teen Extended Day (TED) program providing secure, supervised academic enrichment.
All LEAP sites are licensed facilities located at each elementary school within the Marana Unified School District for students enrolled in pre-K through sixth grade. K-8 schools within the Marana Unified School District offer both a LEAP site (preK-5th grades) and a TED program (6-8th grades).
LEAP and TED offers academic support, art, physical education, and hands-on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities geared to academically challenge and engage students in a creative and fun way. The variety of activities offered are designed to promote social growth and development through homework help, literacy, math and science activities, healthy habits, and physical fitness.
Early Childhood Learning Centers: Preschool
-
The MUSD Early Childhood Learning Centers are available for three to five year old children the year prior to entering kindergarten. Children participate in small and large group activities as well as enrichment learning activities that promote development in the arts and large motor skills. The Arizona Early Learning Standards are followed to prepare the children for kindergarten.
This program is offered at the following elementary schools: Coyote Trail, Gladden Farms, Quail Run, Roadrunner, Rattlesnake Ridge, Dove Mountain CSTEM K-8, and at the MUSD Early Learning and Resource Center. The centers are open from 7:30 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday-Friday, with half day (am) and full day (am/pm) sessions available. Dove Mountain is open from 8:15am to 2:35pm, Monday-Friday, with half day (am) and full day (am/pm). All the Early Childhood Learning Centers follow the MUSD school year calendar; therefore, the program is closed when MUSD schools are closed.
