There's a Leader In Us All!

  • Leadership Ladder with counseling lessons on each rung.Leadership is our theme for the year at Twin Peaks K-8, and our goal is to give out 8,000 Positive Paws. K.C., the Kind Cub, will climb the ladder to show students where we are with our goal. If you look closely at the rungs of the ladder you will see the lessons being taught in counseling groups. We are teaching Sean Covey's "Leader in Me: 7 Habits of Healthy Kids." The habits include:

    1. Be Proactive
    2. Begin with the End in Mind
    3. Put First Things First
    4. Think Win-Win
    5. Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood
    6. Synergize
    7. Sharpen the Saw
    8. Find Your Voice

Our counselors, Lorelei Barrett and Jennifer Marries, have already begun teaching the first habit, "Be Proactive: Responding instead of Reacting," during class lessons. Being proactive is the root of all of the habits. Mrs. Barrett is also incorporating Growth Mindset and Kelso's Choices during her first lessons. We are excited to see our students grow as leaders and find their voice!
