ABLE Program

Students from several schools on Founders Day Parade float

Marana USD's ABLE (Academic, Behavioral, and Life-Skills Education) Program is part of the continuum of special education services offered by the Marana Unified School District.  Servicing students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, this program offers:

  • Extremely low staff to student ratios;
  • Specialized curriculum and resources designed to meet each student’s unique academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and life skills needs; and
  • A learning environment that is highly individualized and specifically structured to meet each student’s needs (including activity, noise, and visual stimulation levels).

The ABLE Program may be a suitable placement option for intellectually disabled students who struggle with integration into a typical school-based special education program, or for students whose behavioral needs can be more appropriately addressed in a smaller and more controlled environment.

Our primary goal at the ABLE Program is to assist each student in achieving his or her highest potential and level of personal independence.
