Transportation
Department Overview
The Marana Unified School District covers 550 square miles with school buses providing safe, dependable, and efficient transportation in support of inspiring students to learn today and lead tomorrow.
Like you, our desire is your child’s safety from the moment they leave your home in the morning until they return safely that afternoon. All vehicles in our fleet are up-to date with all route buses being 2012 and newer. Buses are equipped with safety features that include air conditioning, video monitoring, GPS, and air doors.
All bus drivers undergo a rigorous training regimen consisting of classroom instruction, road training and testing, and simulated training. The comprehensive training program continues beyond the initial training, with monthly training meetings for bus drivers and bus attendants. The training program covers all aspects of transportation such as regulations, defensive driving, student management, and students with special needs.
The Transportation Department uses a state-of-the-art routing system from Education Logistics together with a Student Information System and custom databases to provide staff with all of the information they need, in a timely and efficient manner.
