Meet the Associate Principal - Ms. Kovalesky
It is a great honor and thrill to be a part of the Ironwood team of outstanding individuals who share the same commitment to our students’ learning and academic success as I do. I am passionate about building strong, lasting commitments with all stakeholders in our community. I am wholeheartedly committed to working with the Ironwood families and its hardworking staff in order for students to flourish in all facets of their lives. I promise that Ironwood will continue to be a gathering place for all community members to engage in learning and experiences with our youth and share our Ironwood Coyote pride.
I am originally from New Jersey and even after living in Arizona for more years, I still refer to New Jersey as where I am from. My childhood there helped define who I am today. I hop on a plane and head there as often as I can and spend a few weeks at our house on the lake in the summer. I cannot get enough of friends, family, seasons, and east coast food!Immediately after graduating high school in New Jersey, I moved to Arizona to attend the University of Arizona. I received my BA in Education in 2005 from the U of A and then my MA in Academic Leadership in 2012 from NAU.
I began teaching at DeGrazia Elementary School in the Marana School District in 2005. It is hard to believe that the years I spent there went by so quickly. I taught the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades and involved myself in as many aspects of our positive school culture as I could. Some of my favorite moments were the times spent in my classroom, our fine arts evenings, awards ceremonies, and community events, such as carnivals and family fun nights! Nothing thrills me more than working alongside families to guide our children as they grow academically and socially.
I have one son, Christopher, who started school as a DeGrazia Dustdevil, moved on to be a Marana Middle School Falcon, and is now a Cougar at Mountain View High School. We both love playing soccer, snowboarding, and watching all other sports activities. My son and I are both extremely grateful for the education and positive experiences provided by Marana Unified School District and are proud to call it our home.
I began my professional journey to make a difference in the lives of my students in my classroom. I never expected it to transition into a personal journey that runs through me each day. I want to make a difference in the lives of everyone I connect with on a daily basis. Becoming Ironwood’s Assistant Principal allows for my journey to expand to greater levels and challenges me to continually grow. I believe that changes occur when people build positive relationships and work together for others. Please seek me out and begin our positive relationship. I promise to always do the same. After all, it will be our relationships that make the difference in the lives of our Ironwood students and community!
“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” ~ Henry Ford
