From the Secretary - Tami Terpstra

  • I have been with the Marana School District since 1996. I began my district service at Coyote Trail a week after it opened as an instructional aide, moving on to be the Health Aide and eventually serving as its Secretary. I have also had the privilege of sharing my experiences to help successfully open Twin Peaks Elementary in 2001 and our own Rattlesnake Ridge in 2007.  It is my pleasure to serve our dedicated staff and support our students that make up the future of our community.

In cooperation with the classroom teachers, the front office serves as the hub to keep the school running smoothly.   The front office retains all student contact and medical information.  It is also where we manage events that are happening at the school – both present and those in the future. When teachers have events occurring in their classrooms, they are asked to get that information to us so that we can share that information with parents. We serve as a direct line of communication to teachers by phone, email and student messenger.

As the school Secretary, my duties are varied and span the whole realm of school life.  It is my responsibility to order all supplies, textbooks, furniture and equipment that are needed to make the jobs of our staff run smoothly. I also assist with scheduling meetings with Mr. Abney and Mr. Uden for parents and other members of the community. If a parent has an issue with a teacher, we do ask that they try and resolve it with that teacher prior to talking or meeting with Mr. Abney.  It is also my job to arrange the substitutes when the teachers are out, as well as take care of payroll, answer the phones and distribute the mail.  Occasionally I can be seen helping out in the kitchen with breakfast or lunch or even out at the crosswalk.  I can even been found at the front desk when our attendance clerk is out or in the Health Office when our Health Assistant is out.

Our goal at Rattlesnake Ridge is to give a warm welcome when anyone walks in the door.  We want our school to be a place where both teachers enjoy working and students enjoy learning.  Please let us know if we can improve our service in any way.
