Meet the Principal - Joshua Bayne
I am honored to serve as the principal of Butterfield Elementary and excited about this upcoming school year! I joined the Marana Unified School District in 2011 and spent the first five years as an Associate Principal at Marana Middle School. I am a Tucsonan born and raised, and very proud to call Marana my home. My wife works in our school district. You may see her from time to time supporting students and teachers with technology in the classroom. We have one child, Parker, who attends our neighborhood school, Rattlesnake Ridge. Currently we enjoy the baseball field, playing soccer, riding bikes through the neighborhood and reading superhero books.
My career in education started In 2004, and I can say, without a doubt, I have the best job in the world. Butterfield is an incredible community, with parents and families surrounding our students with support both at school and at home. I work with the most amazing, hard-working adults on campus. Every day, they work to create connections, build trust and inspire students (sometimes out of their comfort zone) to learn and grow.
Our mission at Butterfield is to challenge all students to achieve academic and personal excellence in a powerful, relevant and supportive learning environment. We are committed to meeting the needs of every student and providing an well-rounded education. Working together with our parents and families, it is our goal to help grow our community of learners by setting the example and celebrating our success.
Our PBIS rules are Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, Be Productive. Butterfield is also a kind campus and regularly participates in activities that promote the Be Kind movement.
I appreciate your support and partnership to facilitate your child’s education. I encourage all families to become involved in our school by joining our BCAC parent group, volunteering in the classroom and providing homework support. When on campus, please don’t hesitate to stop by and say hello. I am excited about the upcoming school year, and in the words of Billy Bobcat, it’s going to be paws-itiively great!
