Caitlyn Kauffman, MHS Principal, Receives ASA Distinguished Administrator Award

Caitlyn Kauffman, Marana High School principal, received the Arizona School Administrators (ASA) Distinguished Administrator Award for her outstanding leadership. She is credited with producing a positive climate with high morale among students and staff, as well as building community support for education, implementing the goals of the district and school, serving personally in the community, and committing to professional growth and development.

Over the past four years, Kauffman has led major improvements at Marana High School, helping the campus earn Marzano High Reliability Schools certifications for creating a safe, collaborative environment and ensuring effective instruction in every classroom. She also introduced the school’s “Tiger Time” standards recovery program, providing targeted academic support in math and English language arts to improve student achievement.

Under her leadership, Marana High School’s state accountability score increased from 57.36 points and a low “C” rating to 81.73 points, just shy of an “A” rating. The school’s graduation rate also rose from 89.9% to 93.99%, while CCRI scores increased significantly. Marana High School additionally earned the prestigious A+ School of Excellence designation under her leadership.

Mrs. Kauffman has also played an active role in educational leadership. She is a member of both the Arizona School Administrators and the American Association of School Administrators and currently serves on the MUSD MEA Negotiations Team. She was named MUSD Administrator of the Year for 2024–25 and has been voted “Best Principal” in the Best of the Northwest Tucson competition for four years.

Beyond the classroom, Kauffman is committed to community service through organizations including Special Olympics, United Way, Oro Valley Little League, and PGA Junior League.
