Gladden Farms Elementary Boosts Reading Achievement with ‘Lit Labs’!
Gladden Farms Elementary is celebrating a significant increase in student literacy proficiency through an innovative approach called “Lit Labs.” By implementing small-group literacy rotations, reading proficiency has increased 10–30% since 2021, depending on grade level.
Each grade receives a dedicated hour of literacy instruction daily. During this time, students rotate every 20 minutes, allowing teachers to provide personalized support and quickly identify students who need extra help. Remarkably, this strategy has required no additional cost to the district.
The Lit Labs program not only strengthens literacy skills but also fosters confidence and engagement in reading, helping students develop the foundation they need for lifelong learning.
