Kristina Brewer, Roadrunner Principal, Receives ASA Distinguished Administrator Award

Kristina Brewer, principal of Roadrunner Elementary School, received the Arizona School Administrators (ASA) Distinguished Administrator Award for her outstanding leadership.

Mrs. Brewer, who has served as principal for 13 years, was recognized for transforming Roadrunner Elementary’s culture through Professional Learning Communities, creating a collaborative environment focused on collective responsibility, data-driven instruction, and student achievement. She reorganized the school schedule to prioritize teacher collaboration and helped shift conversations from “my students” to “our students.”

Under her leadership, Roadrunner improved from a “C” rating in fiscal year 2024 to a “B” rating in 2025 while removing its Targeted Support Identification for the special education subgroup. Since 2019, the school’s accountability score has increased from 62.38 points to 73.05 points, reflecting gains in student proficiency, subgroup growth, attendance, and third-grade reading achievement.

Mrs. Brewer has also prioritized staff and teacher retention, helping increase the school’s retention rate from 72% in 2020–2021 to 88% last year. She worked alongside district leaders to support teachers and expand resources for families, including free preschool opportunities for families in the community.

One of Mrs. Brewer’s most meaningful accomplishment was establishing “Butler’s Pantry” in honor of late school health aide Mrs. Butler, providing food, clothing, hygiene products, and household supplies to families in need through partnerships with local churches and community volunteers.

Her leadership has earned several honors, including MUSD Administrator of the Year in 2020 and the Spirit of Marana Award in 2023.
