Mountain View High School senior Tysen Woodward has been named the recipient of the John Lewis Award for Civic Leadership, presented by the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office. This prestigious statewide honor recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional leadership, civic engagement, and a strong commitment to civil rights and democratic participation, principles exemplified by the legacy of Congressman John Lewis.

Tysen was formally recognized during a ceremony held at the historic Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix. The award was presented by Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, marking a proud moment for both Tysen and the Marana Unified School District.

This recognition reflects Tysen’s sustained leadership and dedication to civic education through his involvement in Mock Trial, Kids Voting Arizona, and other statewide civic engagement initiatives. His efforts have made a meaningful impact on students across Mountain View High School, throughout the district, and across the state of Arizona.
