MUSD presents School Safety Lessons for Grades 9-12
MUSD presents School Safety Lessons for Grades 9-12

In an effort to continue educating students on safety preparedness, all MUSD students in grades 9-12 will be participating in a class counseling lesson focused on school safety. The goal of this lesson is to empower high school students with the knowledge and skills they need to help keep themselves and others safe.
During the lesson, students will:
- Learn about district safety protocols for Fire Drills, Hold/Secure/Shelter, and Lockdown drills.
- Connect these procedures to our school-wide PBIS expectations of being prepared and having a plan “just in case”
- Review the Run/Hide/Fight protocol, including age-appropriate strategies for staying calm in an emergency
- Build confidence by practicing how to respond safely and effectively if unexpected situations arise.
By providing this training in a supportive classroom environment, our aim is to help students feel more secure and prepared, not fearful.
If you have any questions or would like to review the lesson materials, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We value your partnership in keeping our school community safe
