New Sand Volleyball Courts Coming to Marana High School!

Marana High School's Beach Volleyball program is receiving two long-awaited sand volleyball courts on campus, thanks to generous support from local partners JW Civil and Dorado Rock.

Led by Associate Principal Mrs. Amie Cormell, the project will give volleyball student-athletes sand courts on-campus to practice and play on for the first time. Currently, the MHS Beach Volleyball team commutes to Crossroads Park at Silverbell to practice and compete.

“Many of our young student athletes don’t drive, and for the ones that do, it’s another trek across town to access sand courts. It’s safer to keep students on campus, and we are incredibly grateful for the partnerships that make this possible for our student-athletes,” said Mrs. Cormell.

The new courts will require 883 tons of fine sand, donated by Dorado Rock, while JW Civil is providing the heavy equipment and labor. Located west of the Wade McLean Pool, the courts will be installed over the summer, with student-athletes expected to use them starting in the 2026-27 school year.

Jacob Wareham, owner of JW Civil, is a proud 2014 Mountain View High School graduate who recently celebrated his ten-year class reunion. As a former student-athlete himself, and alongside many crew members who also played sports in school, Wareham says his company is proud to support this effort on behalf of future volleyball student-athletes.
