Power Pack

A Power Pack offers ready-to-eat, nutritious snacks to students who are identified as chronically hungry within Marana schools. Power Packs ensure children have access to food during weekends and school breaks, resulting in fewer stomachaches and greater ability to learn.

Ensuring Students Don’t Go Hungry on Weekends

Did you know that many students who receive free or reduced meals at school are left without adequate nutrition and are chronically hungry on the weekend and during holiday breaks? As a result, many students come to school hungry, contributing to their distraction and inability to focus on learning.

The Marana Unified School District Power Pack Program provides much-needed food to our chronically hungry students who would otherwise not have adequate access to food during the weekends or school breaks.

Power Packs Provide Nutritious Meals and Help Kids Stay Healthy and in School

Power Packs consist of nutritious, ready-to-eat, nonperishable food items. Each Friday during the school year, the District sends Power Packs home with chronically hungry students. Power Packs are distributed confidentially to those students who have been identified by school staff at participating schools.

Studies have shown that students who have access to programs like Power Pack are sick less often, have fewer stomachaches, and are more eager and ready to learn. Student learning and attendance also improves dramatically.

Your Support Changes Lives

One of the many benefits of the Power Pack Program is that it is a cooperative collaboration of school, community, and families. It brings an awareness to the problems of hunger and models how a community can work together to help its families in their time of need.

Since 2009, the program has continued to feed hungry students through the generosity of community members, local businesses, churches, clubs, yearly TRICO POWER grants, and in collaboration with MUSD’s Food Services Department. Thanks to our amazing community partners, the Marana Unified School District has provided approximately 200 packs per year!
