    As a K-12 public school district, the District serves approximately 12,700 students in ten elementary schools; a K-8 school; a CSTEM K-8 school; two middle schools; three high schools, and one alternative school. 

     

    Offering a diverse educational experience, the Marana district offers computer science immersion, talent development, gifted and special education, advanced placement, career and technical education, zSpace AR/VR and science labs, student mobile devices, CSTEM, makerspace and outdoor learning areas, arts, on-site athletics, and so much more only offered through the Marana district. Phase I

    In June 2020, Dr. Doug Wilson will retire from his position as Superintendent of Schools after serving 12 years in the Marana district and 39 years in education.

     

    Following the retirement announcement, the Governing Board of the Marana Unified School District engaged Ray and Associates, Inc. as the national executive leadership search firm. Ray and Associates, Inc. is charged with conducting a national search for exceptional Superintendent candidates qualified to lead the Marana district, serve students, families and community, and deliver outstanding results.

     

    As part of this exciting and comprehensive process to hire a new superintendent, the Governing Board invited parents, employees and community members to participate in a ThoughtExchange community conversation about what skills and qualities they believe make a great superintendent. Through this interactive process, hundreds of individuals shared their thoughts and rated the ideas of others. This outstanding conversation resulted in close to 600 thoughts shared with the Governing Board and 18,697 ratings! These thoughts and ratings provided direct input in developing the skills and qualities being sought in the next superintendent. Phase II

  • Phase II: December 2019 Call for Applicants

     

    December 13, 2019 through January 12, 2020, Ray and Associates, Inc. will conduct a nationwide search for the most qualified outstanding educational leader. Persons wishing to learn more and/or be considered for the position should submit an application file at Ray and Associates Website. Deadline to Apply: January 12, 2020.

    Marana Unified School District Seeks a Superintendent Who:

     

    • Is strongly committed to a “student first” philosophy in all decisions.

    • Possesses the leadership skills, knowledge and sensitivity required to respond to the opportunities and challenges presented by an ethnically and culturally diverse student population and community.

    Requirements

    A Superintendent Certificate is preferred. More information about the Superintendent accreditation process is available at the Department of Education website.

     

    Salary and Benefits

    The salary will be in the range of $190,000.00 plus an excellent benefit package. The final salary for the successful candidate will be determined based upon proven experience, qualifications, and meeting Board of Education criteria.

Phase III

    Deadline to Apply: January 12, 2020. Persons wishing to be considered for the position should submit an application file online.

     

    All materials submitted as part of the Superintendent application will remain confidential to the fullest extent allowed by law, which includes Board review in an executive session of the Governing Board. After all applications have been reviewed and preliminary screening interviews conducted by Ray and Associates, Inc., the consulting firm, the names of the recommended finalists will be presented to the Marana Unified School District Governing Board for their consideration.

     

    Selection of candidates for interviews is the sole responsibility of the Board.

     

    Candidates selected for interviews should expect that their names and resumes will become public information.

Phase IV
