AIMS Science Test
Science is the process of gathering and evaluating information, looking for patterns, and testing possible explanations.
Students often wonder why science is necessary for them. Science is both a body of knowledge that represents current understanding of natural systems and the process that continually extends, refines, and revises that body of knowledge. Science students learn to think critically and to develop reasoning skills that allow them to become independent, lifelong learners. Science is not a big book of answers but a way to ask questions and design the best methods for getting at the answers. Science happens when we ask “Why?” and discover that there is a strategy for solving the puzzles in the world around us.
AIMS Science is a Standards Based Assessment that measures student proficiency of the Arizona Academic Content Standard in Science. It meets federal requirements for student assessment.
It is administered in the spring to students in Grades 4, 8, and high school. Passing the AIMS test is not required to graduate high school.
