Student Holiday Service Project Helps Marana Community

IMAGE: Students making blankets. Our 2nd graders, with the help of their 5th grade buddy classes, completed a very special service learning project for the holidays. They reached out the Marana community to raise "Funds for Fleece" in an effort to benefit a local Tucson Women & Children's Shelter and Crisis Nursery. The children then worked together to make 24 two-layer, cut & tie blankets. Prior to the making of the blankets, the children had a eye-opening lesson about homelessness, children in need, community service, and the importance of kindness and giving back during the holidays. We hope that this project teaches a valuable lesson and leaves a lasting impression on our Estes students.
