TMS Boy's Basketball Championship

The Tortolita 8th grade boys basketball team brought home the Northwest league championship! The Cougars had to beat Wilson, Marana, and Cross Middle school to make it to the Championship. After losing to Esperero Canyon earlier in the season, Tortolita had a chance at little revenge in the finals. The Cougars took the lead early and never looked back. Winning the game 44 to 34, Tortolita Cougars were crowned champions of the Northwest League! Finishing the season 16 wins and 2 loses.

After a long winter break, the Cougars were back in action. They travelled to Phoenix to play in the Arizona Jr. High Martin Luther King Basketball Tournament. The Cougars struggled early in pool play but won enough to land in the winners bracket. The Cougars entered the bracket as an 8 seed. The first game the cougars beat Madison #1 61 to 51. The next game the Tortolita played Wilson from Central Phoenix and the Cougars knocked out the number 1 team 50 to 35. The boys went on to beat MTA by 9 to advance to the State Championship game. In the Championship the #8 Tortolita Cougars took on the #2 Tucson Hawks (Pistor Middle). After being down for most of the game, the Cougars took the lead late and held on for the victory 47 to 45. Tortolita Cougars are Champions once again. Special thanks to all the boys for all their hard work and their parents for their patience and for being your son's number 1 fan!
