IMAGE: Lisa Johnson, 5th/6th grade gifted class teacher at Coyote Trail Elementary. Congratulations Lisa Johnson, 5th/6th grade gifted class teacher at Coyote Trail Elementary, for being awarded Teacher of the Month by Bear Essential News for your novel approach to teaching!  Ms. Johnson, who is a natural bookworm and nature enthusiast, was nominated by her students for her unique approach to presenting new concepts while making learning fun!  “She lets us take the reins of the classroom and allows us to make decisions. Our teacher is great because she respects us and listens to our opinions to make the classroom a better place for learning,” they wrote.

Johnson, who has been a teacher for two decades, says she tries to get students to push themselves into the “uncomfortable zone.” She urges them to challenge themselves and remember that mistakes offer chances to learn.
