Congratulations to Robin Maxey, Tortolita Middle School educator, who received a STEM-CAN grant through the STEM-CAN Supporters, Inc. This grant makes it possible for 7th grade students to learn in a more conceptual hands-on way using Math link cubes to bring the abstract right to student’s hands! Rational numbers, expressions and equations can be brought from the abstract to concrete when done with manipulatives giving the students the ability to put a physical representation to an abstract concept. In these photos students are using them for setting up and solving equations, square roots and cube roots. Relevant hands-on learning at its finest!
