MHS Earn Top Honors at State Math Competition

Congratulations Marana High School Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Chapter who placed 1st in the 43rd annual Central Arizona College 2019 High School state Math Competition held on April 4. Marana High students competed against hundreds and earned top honors!


The following students placed in the open competition:
1st place: Matt Coulthard
2nd place: Jude Lykins
3rd place: Wilson Tan


Students at the calculus level also won top honors:

1st place: Jude Lykins & Sam Rahman
2nd place: Matt Coulthard (as a team of 1)


Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society, provides a method for schools to recognize and encourage students who enjoy and excel in mathematics; organizes a national convention for students and teachers to participate in math-related events and interact with others from across the country and rewards outstanding extracurricular achievement by offering special awards, scholarships, and grants to students and their faculty advisers.
