Congratulations to Mountain View High School Early Childhood Education students who claimed 7 gold medals and one first place at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) 2019 State Leadership Conference held on April 15-17, 2019. Of these wins, 7 students qualified for the 2019 FCCLA National Leadership Conference to be held June 30-July 4, 2019 in Anaheim, CA.

During the state conference, Arizona’s finest high school members engaged in over 70 different STAR Competitive Events against 1100 students over three days. These STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events recognize members for proficiency and achievement in projects, leadership skills and occupational preparation. FCCLA is a national Career and Technical Student Organization that provides personal growth, leadership development, and career preparation opportunities for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education. FCCLA is the Ultimate Leadership Experience!

"Being able to watch the Early Childhood students develop their leadership skills all while giving back to the children within our community is priceless,” says Lauren Moraga, ECE Teacher, FCCLA Advisor.

"FCCLA was an experience to remember,” states Marianna Rodriguez, ECE FCCLA Chapter Student Development Chair - JTED and ASDB senior. “Let me tell you something, join FCCLA it doesn't matter who you are or your background. FCCLA is a big family. It helped me gain confidence as a Deaf person. State Leadership Conference taught me how to be a leader and how I can impact the world out there. If I wasn't in FCCLA or if I hadn't gone to this conference I wouldn't have the skills to be a leader or have the confidence I have today. I'm thankful to FCCLA for my experiences."

Lauren Church, ECE FCCLA Chapter Treasurer and Secretary - JTED and MV senior, states, “My experience with FCCLA has provided a life changing opportunity. My experience has changed my outlook on life. Since joining FCCLA I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone to be the best possible leader I could be. I’m hoping the families that attended my workshop use the tools that I provided them to continue with positive enforcement for the rest of their school career.”
