Play & Learn Teacher Lindsey Shotwell Receives Teacher Excellence Award!

Laura Strickler, a parent, nominated her by submitting a heartwarming statement sharing her appreciation for the impact that Ms. Shotwell has had on her life and her family.

“Lindsey is a wonderful person and the most dedicated teacher. She works with preschool aged students with developmental disabilities and she pours her entire heart into her work. She builds strong relationships with her students and their families working incredibly hard to provide families the tools they need to prepare for Kindergarten. She has made a huge impact on my life and my family. She has taught me things about my son, and myself and I am forever grateful to her.” – Laura Strickler

Andy Heinemann, CEO of Tucson Values Teachers presented Lindsey with the Teacher Excellence Award shortly after surprising her during live whole group instruction on Zoom. Ms. Shotwell received flowers, $250 cash courtesy of Helios Education Foundation, a $100 gift card to Office Max, a Tucson Values Teachers coffee mug filled with chocolates, plus another $100 gift card and a basket full of school supplies presented by Vanessa Alfaro of OneAZ Credit Union.

This recognition honors the extraordinary level of excellence and commitment that Ms. Shotwell demonstrates every day.
