On behalf of the Governing Board and District, Superintendent Dr. Dan Streeter presented Ms. Hopkins with an engraved clock.

Ms. Hopkins was elected and served her first term on the Marana Unified School District Governing Board in 2009. She served as Vice President in 2011 and President in 2012. Ms. Hopkins has also served on the Marana Schools’ 2340 Foundation Board of Directors since 2012.

Ms. Hopkins has been a long time member of the Marana community and her two children are MUSD graduates. Ms. Hopkins ran for the Governing Board to ensure that there was true and equitable representation and that decisions made were in the best interest of the MUSD community. During her 12 year tenure on the Board, she has stayed true to her campaign. She has provided guidance and direction to the District in relation to policy, opening, expanding, and consolidating schools, bond and override elections, personnel issues, and hiring a Superintendent. As part of the five member Governing Board, Ms. Hopkins has also had to make difficult decisions when it came to the District’s budget, boundary changes, closing a school, and currently, the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the forefront of her decisions, Ms. Hopkins always considered what was in the best interest of the students and staff of Marana Unified School District. Ms. Hopkins’ leadership, guidance, and vision will be truly missed.
