Meet the Fall Break MUSD Energy Super Savers!

Energy Saver Mascot pushing power button Marana Unified School District is proud to recognize our Fall Break Super Savers! Super Savers are scattered throughout the district, practicing energy saving techniques like closing blinds and unplugging electronics that use energy, including; power strips, lights, faucets and exhaust fans, especially when schools are closed for breaks.

From the hundreds of Super Savers that practiced energy savings this Fall Break, the following four winners were drawn and have been given a $200 purchase order towards classroom/office supplies and materials:

  • Gregory Sears – Mountain View High School
  • Amanda Basaldua – Estes Elementary
  • Julianna Nelsen - Tortolita Middle Schools
  • Tricia Wilt – Extended Learning and Resource Center

It is through the efforts of all of our Super Savers that our energy savings to date has reached $4,398,855!

That means that our cumulative greenhouse gas reduction is equivalent to the following:

  • Passenger cars not driven for one year: 3,414
  • Tree seedlings grown for 10 years: 420,227
  • Energy reduction impact 138,448,439 KBtu (16,389 equivalent metric tons of CO2)

Congratulations to these Super Savers, and thanks to everyone for remembering every day that … A dollar saved on energy is a dollar saved for education!
