Students Explore Careers and College Courses in Welding

Students waiting in line to explore welding career and college information

Student practicing hands-on welding trainingStudents from Marana and Mountain View High Schools’ Advance Welding classes visited Central Arizona College as part of a Welding Demo and Outreach Day in early October.  At the event, students were able to connect and learn from instructors and leaders in welding.  Students also spoke with Central Arizona College staff members about courses related to welding, auto, and heavy equipment repair.

Welders and torches were set up for the students to demo. Students had the chance to talk with representatives from industry companies including Fronius, Metabo and Norton.

The class is taught by Lead Welding Teacher, Mr. Mario Favela.

“Students were excited about the potential opportunity for a job, and also learning more about courses offered by Central Arizona College,” said Mr. Favela. “One student, Mason Flores, is interested in taking their Heavy Equipment class. He wants to get his welding certification from Marana High School and then become certified in Heavy Equipment.”

“The Advance Welding class from MHS and MVHS was very happy and thankful for the field trip. Thank you for letting our students experience what the welding industry has to offer after high school,” said Mr. Favela.
