Letter to Faculty & Staff from Dr. Streeter [Return to Hybrid Learning 1/25/21] – Jan. 22, 2021

January 22, 2021

Faculty and staff,

As we prepare to welcome many of our students back to the hybrid setting next week, I wanted to take a quick moment to thank you for your continued hard work and dedication to our students. I know that this has been an exceptionally challenging school year. I continue to be incredibly proud of your efforts and grateful for the support being put forth to our students and families.

While there is a lot of excitement to welcome students back to our campuses next week, I also know that there are questions and concerns as we continue to monitor the area’s health metrics. These questions are fair and the concerns are legitimate. I can tell you that we have been working very closely with the Pima County Health Department on these decisions. This includes multiple meetings over the past few weeks. While the county and state dashboards do indicate that districts should remain in a remote setting, PCHD supports the move back to hybrid for our district. In our case, this is supported due to our continued work with them on our mitigation strategies, our own case investigation, low transmission rates within our schools, and lower numbers within our zip codes.

With that said please know that we will continue to monitor the health metrics and recommendations as well as continue to evaluate unique circumstances at each school site with regards to active Covid cases. This includes ensuring that we have adequate staff, due to quarantining and isolation guidelines, to maintain safe learning environments as well as monitoring our ability to avoid potential outbreaks.

Again, please know that this decision has been made through much communication and careful deliberation.

Thank you,
