MUSD Math Teachers Johnson/Scafede Honored

Mrs. Johnson & Mr. ScafedeCongratulations to two MUSD Math Educators who were named winner and runner-up for the University of Arizona’s Excellence & Resiliency in Mathematics Teaching: Mid-Career & Veteran Teachers from the Center for Recruitment & Retention of Math Teachers! Mrs. Lisa Johnson, 6th grade teacher from Coyote Trail Elementary School, was named the winner, and Mr. Adam Scafede, middle and high school math teacher from Dove Mountain CTEM K-8 School, was a runner-up.

Honoring Excellence & Resiliency in Mathematics Teaching: Mid-Career & Veteran Teachers
Teachers are leaders from the classroom. Both Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Scafede were celebrated as creative teacher leaders during The Mathematics Educator Appreciation Day Conference, Arizona's largest mathematics education event with more than 950 educators in attendance.

Mid-career and veteran teachers try new ideas and bring others along as they take risks and learn from those risks. They allow their classrooms to be fertile testing grounds for innovation, and their team meetings or interactions with other teachers can be a platform for encouraging others to join them in efforts to innovate.

Congratulations, Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Scafede, for this deserving recognition!
