Thank you, Mr. Lewandowski for 24 Years of Service!
Last Thursday, the MUSD administration honored Mr. John Lewandowski, MUSD Governing Board Vice President, who has completed his term serving on the board.
Mr. Lewandowski was first elected to the MUSD Governing Board in 1983 and served for eight years. In 2007, Mr. Lewandowski was reelected and has served consecutively for the last 16 years. He has served as president five times and vice president for 10 years.
Mr. Lewandowski is a long time member of the community and public education is an integral part of his family. Both he and his wife, Judy, are retired school teachers. Their three children have been public school teachers and two have taught in the Marana Unified School District. Their grandchildren have also attended Marana schools.
Mr. Lewandowski spent his 24 years on the Board advocating for the students, parents, and staff of the District. As part of a five member Governing Board, he has also had to make difficult decisions when it came to the District’s budget, boundary changes, policies, school closures, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Through all the years and issues he has faced, he worked collaboratively with other Board members, District administration, staff, and parents to ensure that our students receive the best educational opportunities.
Mr. Lewandowski has said that, “Every child deserves to have the strongest educational foundation possible to cement their success later in life,” and for that reason his decisions were always based on the best interest of students and staff.
The Marana Unified School District will truly miss Mr. Lewandowski’s leadership, vision, and guidance.
